7:30 p.m.

            The Board of Directors of the San Benito County Water District convened in special session. All members of the Board were present together with Manager/Engineer, John S. Gregg, Administrative Services Officer, Denise R. Thome, District Counsel, David E. Pipal and members of the general public.

1)         CONTINUATION OF PUBLIC HEARING RE: 1996/1997 GROUND

WATER REPORT:

President Swanson opened the public hearing.

Manager Gregg indicated that the report was presented at the January 5, 1998 meeting and he had received comments from the City of Hollister and Sunnyslope County Water District. He added that they would make the draft and changes available at the January 28, 1998 meeting at which, if it were accepted, they would make the changes and print for distribution.

There was no public comment.

Gus Yates of Jones & Stokes, spoke of rounding of the numbers in the tables, which he had done in this report.

Director Rupert felt they should not round and instead leave accurate numbers by leaving all digits, on a consistent basis.

Manager Gregg concurred.

President Swanson closed the public hearing.

2)         DISCUSSION OF 1998/1999 RATES AND CHARGES:

                President Swanson stated that the committee did not have a recommendation.

            Manager Gregg distributed a handout and made a report on it.

            Discussion was had regarding process and effective dates for rates and charges.

           

            The meeting adjourned at 8:13 p.m.
