The Board of Directors of the San Benito County Water District convened in Special Session. Directors John Tobias, Douglas Keck and James DeLaCruz were present together with District Manager/Engineer John S. Gregg, Operations & Maintenance Supervisor Cliff Thatcher and Water Conservation Specialist Eva Schmoock.

TOUR OF SAN BENITO RIVER SYSTEM

The Tour began with the San Benito River at Hospital Road. From there they proceeded to the Thomas Road area then to the Paicines Canal and Reservoir complex. They took the 40 mile drive to the Hernandez Dam and Reservoir where they had lunch and reviewed the condition of the main dam, spillway and outlet works.

The issues reported upon were that of the modernization and rehabilitation of the Hernandez Dam Outlet Works, deferred maintenance on the Paicines Canal and San Benito River Diversion Dam, the efficient delivery of water in the Thomas Road area and the unauthorized use of water in areas outside Zone 3.

Returning to the District Office at approximately 4:00 p.m., the Board adjourned to a Regular Meeting to be held on November 28, 2001 at 7:30 p.m., 30 Mansfield Road, Hollister, California.
