A RESOLUTION OF THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS OF
THE SAN BENITO COUNTY WATER DISTRICT REGARDING
A WATER RECYCLING FACILITIES PLANNING GRANT FROM
THE STATE WATER RESOURCES CONTROL BOARD
WHEREAS, Based on the Groundwater Management Plan Update for the San Benito County Portion of the Gilroy-Hollister Groundwater Basin and the County’s demonstrated interest in investigating opportunities for water recycling, the Water Resources Association (Association) of San Benito County (a mutual benefit, non-profit corporation) and its member agencies (City of Hollister, City of San Juan Bautista, Sunnyslope County Water District, and San Benito County Water District) wish to conduct the San Benito Regional Recycled Water Study. This study will include a regional analysis of water recycling opportunities, noting the opportunities for regional solutions to local challenges and conversely, local solutions to regional challenges. In addition, this study will identify project specific facilities, operating strategies, and costs to implement a regional water recycling program; and
WHEREAS
, On behalf of the Association, the San Benito County Water District (District) is submitting this application for the State Water Resources Control Board’s Water Recycling Facilities Planning Grant Program. The District will take the lead in conducting the study, including committing to provide the matching funding, with the understanding that the District will look to the Association and its member agencies to assist in the funding for this activity as an Association Program.NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that:
1. The District Manager or his/her designee is hereby authorized and directed to sign and file, for and on behalf of the District, a Water Recycling Facilities Planning Grant Application for a grant from the State Water Resources Control Board in the amount not to exceed $350,000 for a facilities planning study of the San Benito Regional Water Recycling Plan; and
2. The District hereby agrees and further does authorize the aforementioned representative or his/her designee to certify that the Agency has and will comply with all applicable state statutory and regulatory requirements related to any state grant funds received; and
3. The District Manager or his/her designee of the District is hereby authorized to negotiate and execute a grant contract and any amendments or change orders thereto on behalf of the District.
