WHEREAS, the Water Resources Association of San Benito County (WRA) was created by contract on June 15, 1998 and is composed of member agencies consisting of cities and special districts in San Benito County; and

WHEREAS, Proposition 50, The Water Security, Clean Drinking Water, Coastal and Beach Protection Act of 2002 would provide $3.44 billion of water related projects to California; and

WHEREAS, the Northern and Coastal California Water Bond Initiative Coalition (Coalition) has been formed, includes over 100 public agencies, cities and counties over a region extending from Ventura County to Siskiyou County, and has complied an inventory of funding needs in excess of $2.5 billion; and

WHEREAS, State Senator Machado, has indicated a willingness to carry legislation to direct the funding to specify water projects based upon county area consensus of prioritization; and

WHEREAS, the Water Resources Association of San Benito County has endorsed support for the Coalition and desires to submit the water project priorities for San Benito County.

NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED by the Board of Directors of the San Benito County Water District that the District supports the effort of the Northern and Coastal California Water Bond Initiative Coalition and endorses the participation of the Water Resources Association of San Benito County in that Coalition on behalf of its members.
