RESOLUTION NO. 2003-15

A RESOLUTION OF THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS OF

THE SAN BENITO COUNTY WATER DISTRICT

PROCLAIMING THE MONTH OF MAY

WATER AWARENESS MONTH

WHEREAS, efficient use of water is critical to the state of California and San Benito County; and

WHEREAS, in our communities wastewater disposal is a major challenge that we are currently striving to meet; and

WHEREAS, indoor water use and wastewater production can be significantly reduced by tracking and repairing leaks, replacing inefficient toilets, washing machines and other fixtures with water-efficient models; and

WHEREAS, landscape irrigation makes up over half of the water used at home and can be significantly reduced by changing watering times seasonally, watering only as much as necessary, and keeping lawn areas to a moderate size; and

WHEREAS, local governments and water agencies are working to provide residents with many cost-effective solutions to help lower water use and wastewater production; and

WHEREAS, during May 2003, water agencies, cities, businesses and individuals throughout San Benito County are organizing and participating in activities to educate the public about the many ways to save water and reduce the stress on our water and wastewater systems.

NOW, THEREFORE, I, Ken Perry, President of the San Benito County Water District Board of Directors, do proclaim May 2003 as California Water Awareness Month and urge all citizens to join in supporting local water agencies and organizations in their effort to help San Benito County residents use water wisely—it’s a way of life!

THE FOREGOING RESOLUTION was adopted at a Regular Meeting of the Board of Directors of the San Benito County Water District held on April 30, 2003 by the following vote:

NOES: DIRECTORS: None

ABSENT: DIRECTORS: Swanson
