RESOLUTION NO. 2003 - 17
RESOLUTION OF THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS OF THE
SAN BENITO COUNTY WATER DISTRICT
SUPPORTING SAN BENITO COUNTY EFFORTS TO CLEANUP
POLLUTION AT THE NEW IDRIA MINES ON SAN CARLOS CREEK
WHEREAS, although the town and mine of New Idria, located approximately 55 miles southeast of Paicines have been deserted and inoperative for 30 years, questions with respect to the nature and amount of contamination and its abatement and cleanup still remain; and
WHEREAS, the Board of Supervisors of San Benito County has undertaken a program directed to the objective of achieving cleanup and abatement of pollution on San Carlos Creek at New Idria; and
WHEREAS, that program includes essential elements of cooperation and communication with involved and affected parties and specific actions to petition the Central Valley Regional Water Quality Control Board (the agency have jurisdiction and authority in the case).
NOW, THEREFORE IT BE RESOLVED by the Board of Directors of the San Benito County Water District (SBCWD) that SBCWD supports the actions and activities of San Benito County and requests that the County keep SBCWD informed of its activities, their progress and any need for specific action by this District in achieving the objective of cleanup and abatement of pollution at the New Idria Mines on San Carlos Creek.
The foregoing Resolution was passed and adopted at a Regular Board Meeting held on the 30th day of April, 2003 by the following vote:
