RESOLUTION NO. 98-15

A RESOLUTION OF THE SAN BENITO COUNTY WATER DISTRICT

BOARD OF DIRECTORS

ESTABLISHING STANDARDS FOR DELIVERY METERS

ON PARCELS OF TWENTY ACRES OR SMALLER

WHEREAS, Resolution 93-08 establishes District’s policy regarding the installation of two (2) inch meters on five (5) acre parcels; and

WHEREAS, Ordinance No. 21 of the San Benito County Water District establishes qualification for installation of delivery meters; and

WHEREAS, parcels of twenty (20) acres or less generally have limited flow requirements susceptible to metering by two (2) inch; and

WHEREAS, it has been determined that two (2) inch meters perform satisfactorily; and

WHEREAS, experience has shown that generally small parcels defer meter installation following construction of necessary distribution system expansions;

NOW, THEREFORE, the Board of Directors of the San Benito County Water District does hereby resolve as follows:

    1. That for parcels of twenty (20) acres or less in size, the District standard delivery meter shall be two (2) inch; and
    2. That for parcels of twenty (20) acres or less and larger than five (5) acres with "irrigation" water and water efficient application systems requiring flows greater than the capacity of a two (2) inch meter, as determined solely and conclusively by the District, the District Manager may approve larger meters up to four (4) inch.
    3. That the District standard delivery meter installation for two (2) inch will be a standard utility meter installation with meter and backflow prevention devices as necessary installed below ground in standard meter boxes.
    4. That for temporary services and/or stock watering services the meter size shall be as determined solely and conclusively by the District and approved by the District Manager.
    5. These policies shall apply to all installations whether at property owners expense or at District expense from the date of this resolution forward. Property owners with existing four (4) inch standard delivery meters may request the installation of smaller meters which shall be provided and installed at the property owners expense.
